General Questions

Where's the Widget?
A widget is one of our top priorities, expect it soon.

How much does this cost?
SkyTunes is free for 10-days and then $2.99 to purchase.

What does Desktop Playback mode do?
When Desktop Playback mode is on, SkyTunes will play it's audio through your computer rather than your phone. This lets SkyTunes essentially act as a remote control for your computer, or you can enjoy seamless playback switching when coming home from a day at work.

SkyTunes can toggle seamlessly from Desktop to Device, and back, without ever skipping a beat (ok, maybe a few beats...)

Which desktop platforms do you support?
Thanks to the power of Adobe AIR, SkyTunes server will run on Windows, OSX and Linux.

Which mobile platforms do you support?
SkyTunes will work on the majority of Android 2.2+ phones. In addition, we will be releasing BlackBerry Tablet, and Windows Phone 7 versions when those devices come to market.

Will this kill my battery?
SkyTunes typically runs at 4-6% CPU usage on 1Ghz devices, when placed in the background. It should have very little impact on your battery life.

Can I run the server as a background service?
Currently this is not supported by the AIR Runtime. The moment it is, we will implement this feature, and we do believe it's coming. The best thing you can do for now, is add SkyTunes Server to your "Start Up" folder.

What audio formats do you support?
Only MP3 for now, AAC (MP4) is coming eventually. WMA will not happen.

What happens if I lose my data connection?
SkyTunes maintains a song cache at all times, which you can configure from 0 - 500 songs. Should you lose connectivity, you can still play from your cached files. Plus, SkyTunes even automatically creates a Playlist for you, with all your cached songs in it for easy access!

How many songs can I have in my library?
It is virtually unlimited, we have tested upwards of 10,000 songs with no issues.

What are the load times like?
Load times on the audio files is usually < 3 seconds on the first song, with seamless playback afterwards. Load times to sync your data are also typically < 3 seconds, although this depends on the size of your library.

Why does the scrolling seem to slow down a bit when I start a song?
This is mainly due to the background downloading done as SkyTunes tries and pre-cache your songs for you.

How large is the data file I need to sync?
Around 40kb for every 1000 songs in your library (or playlists).
